Using Foundation Plates With Mini Carriages

Comunello does not make a foundation plate that fits the Mini carriages with 4 mounting bolt holes, because gates built on the Mini hardware system are not heavy enough to require it. But often, using a foundation plate to level and plumb the carriage is the preferred method for installation.

Which Carriages Can Use It

For applications where leveling and plumbing the carriage with a plate is preferred, you can use the CG-05P foundation plate with either the steel CGS-250.8M or CGS-350.8M, or the aluminum CGA-350.5M carriages.

Using the CG-05P Foundation Plate With CGS/CGA “M” Carriages

The 4-bolt hole pattern on the Mini carriages matches up to the center and end holes on the CG-05P foundation plate, so the carriage is mounted on one side of the plate.

  • For longer gates, orient the foundation plates so the unused extension is between the two carriages.
  • For gates with a carriage spacing too small for this to fit, orient the foundation plates so they extend outward towards the end of the gate.

Standard orientation for longer gates — the unused plate extension faces inward, between the two carriages.

For very small gate carriage spacing applications where there is not enough space to turn the plates “inward,” orient them so they extend outward towards the end of the gate.

A More Aesthetic Option

A more aesthetic option is to cut the base plate to match the length of the carriage. We recommend using a galvanized coating spray on the cut edge prior to installing the cut plates.
